Hebrews 6:13-7:28

The author assures believers of their hope in God’s unbreakable promise, first  because God cannot lie or change, and second because God swore an oath. The author then explains Psalm 110:4 by presenting Melchizedek as a type of Christ: a priest not based on genealogy or law. As Jesus is appointed by God’s oath, he is our priest forever and guarantees a better covenant.

7:21-22 Jesus became a priest with an oath when God said to him: “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: ‘You are a priest forever.’ ” Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.
