IN THIS LESSON
summary
By believing in God's salvation provided through Christ, we can enter God's 'rest'. The author calls us to compare ourselves with the generation of Israelites who wandered for forty years in the desert with Moses. Like them, we are pilgrims being tested while traveling on the way to a promised homeland. When we are tested with trials, fears, and sin, will we trust and obey God, or will we fall away in unbelief?
key verse
3:14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
related verses
Matt 11:28-30 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
