Summary
Chapter 6 recounts the story of Daniel’s unwavering faith in God, which leads to his persecution. Government officials, jealous of Daniel, persuade King Darius to issue a decree, knowing Daniel would defy it, forbidding prayer to anyone except the king for thirty days. Despite the law, Daniel continues to pray to God. Though distressed, the king honors the law but hopes for Daniel’s deliverance. Daniel is consequently thrown into a den of lions, but God protects Daniel, and Daniel emerges unharmed. In response, Darius has the official and their families cast into the lions' den, where they are killed. The chapter concludes with Darius issuing a proclamation honoring the power and sovereignty of Daniel’s God.
