DANIEL

The book of Daniel is a powerful blend of history, prophecy, and faithfulness under pressure. Set during the Babylonian exile (6th century B.C.), it follows Daniel, a young Jewish captive who rises to prominence in the courts of Babylon and Persia through his wisdom and unwavering devotion to God. The first half of the book (chapters 1-6) tells dramatic stories of Daniel and his friends—like the fiery furnace and the lion’s den—highlighting God’s protection and sovereignty over earthly kingdoms. The second half (chapters 7-12) shifts to prophetic visions that reveal God’s plan for future empires, the coming of the Messiah, and the ultimate triumph of His kingdom.

Daniel’s life and visions offer both encouragement and challenge to believers. His steadfast faith in a hostile culture serves as a model for trusting God despite opposition. The prophetic sections, while complex, point to God’s control over history and His promise to establish an everlasting kingdom. As we study Daniel, we’ll explore how its messages apply to our faith today—whether standing firm in trials, seeking wisdom in uncertain times, or understanding God’s redemptive plan for the world.)
